This apparatus (Model No: HO-ED-D-02) is meant for graduate and post graduate level courses in physics. Here, the diffraction pattern is closely studied using a detector with translation stage. The device consists of 1.2 meter long optical rail along with carriages, optics and opto-mechanics. At one end of the rail, detector with translation stage is mounted and at the other end, laser is held on a kinematic mount. Linear scale attached to the rail makes length measurement easy and convenient. Both the laser head and detector stages are mounted on rail carriages with locks, which in turn can be mounted anywhere on the rail conveniently.
This setup is for studying the diffraction pattern using detector. The device includes a diode laser of 650nm wavelength which provides a clean monochromatic light source. Diffraction pattern can be observed when a laser beam passes through various single and multiple slits. A number of diffraction slits and gratings are provided with this setup. The intensity distribution of the diffraction pattern consists of a series of light and dark fringes with the intensity distribution symmetric along the central axis. The intensity pattern can be determined using a pin photo detector with fine adjustments. The complete set up is mounted on rail carriages with locks, which in turn can be mounted anywhere on the 1.2 meter long optical rail conveniently.
